Review
Fellow Corporate Challengers,
…another record score wins the day!!!!!!!
Thank you to all teams who were a part of the Vines Corporate Challenge Event. It was one of the hottest days we’ve had to face and all teams stood up to the task remarkably well. All scores were all below par which is a feat only achieved once before in the series and considering the conditions that’s a great achievement. The Members course at the vines can be very tricky to navigate with such huge greens and placement off the tee being so important. It is a great layout that can easily trip you up.
A Big thanks to Rhonda (Golf operations manager), the buggy room boys and the rest of the team at Vines for another great day’s golfing despite the heat.
The records for lowest score were once again adjusted after this event. Congratulations Layne Richardson and Wayne Broad of the Rexel (HPM) team, winners of the day on a fantastic 60.5, combined with Rexel’s second team they managed to shave almost 0.4 of a shot off the Order of Merit and are only 0.15 of a shot off the leading eligible team. Axis Financial Group also had a great result with Michael Jagiello and Alan Green finishing 2nd with 63.5 bringing them down into the 68’s. 3rd were the Multi Power team of Troy Dye and Steve Davies. NTP’s were Steve Davies and Warick Broad and the longest drives were taken by Mark Dennis and Warick Broad.
It’s all come down to Joondalup……
As you’ll see from the leader board it has all come down to the last event. Axis, Rexel and Mainstay are separated by 0.5 of a shot giving these teams the best chance to win the event.
Scores will be crucial for the last round and it will be a test of nerves for the top teams. I am getting nervous just writing about it!!!! If there ever a was a course to separate the men from the boys Joondalup is it. The event will be played off the back markers to further add to the challenge. Who ever is Crowned WA Corporate Challenge Champions for the inaugural 2007-08 series will have to earn it.
It’s almost the end of the road……
It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of our journey. It has been such a great year both for the golf played and the friendships formed. I have seen business relationships forged and strengthened throughout the series and I hope it has been a great experience for all players and there respective organisations. With such world class golfing facilities available to us and such great people involved over the course of the challenge it really has been a privilege to have run this type of event in Perth. I only hope we can grow the event into something special and continue with this unique golfing event in years to come.
We are almost ready to release the details for the 2008 season. It will be bigger and better with a few surprises in store. I can only hope it is as enjoyable as this one has been.
As always thanks must go to our major sponsors AXIS Financial Group for their support of the event. Also thanks to Gage Roads for their contribution to the prizes.
Our next event….
Joondalup has gained worldwide fame for its spectacular and sublimely manicured 27-hole golf
course crafted by Robert Trent Jones Jr who describes it as “Unquestionably one of the world’s
finest golfing experiences” and anyone who has taken on his superb creation will be hard pressed
to disagree. Built on a hilly site, part of which was a disused limestone quarry, the course is routed past and
over rocky ravines, bordered by lush bushland and affording frequent sweeping vistas of the surrounding
countryside and suburbs. Not surprisingly, Joondalup has won many accolades over the years and is rated
Australia s #1 Resort Golf Course 2003/4 and again 2005/6 (Golf Australia Magazine)
The perfect finish for the Corporate Challenge
